NO PURCHASE: Trader or biofuel company has filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case and suspended contracts (new and/or existing) with its group-level supplier, assessed the group-level supplier as non-compliant, and/or noted the group-level supplier is not on an “approved purchase” list.
MORATORIUM: Trader or biofuel company has filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case and has secured a group-level moratorium on forest clearance and/or peatland development through supplier engagement. The moratorium must cover all other operations involving forest clearance and/or peatland development by the same group-level supplier.
NDPE POLICY: Trader or biofuel company has filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case and supplier engagement has led to supplier adoption of a public group-level NDPE policy.
CLOSED WITH RESOLUTION: Trader or biofuel company has filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case and has closed the grievance following the provision of credible evidence needed to resolve the case. This includes cases where it is claimed that the identified land clearing is outside the concession boundary or had been conducted by a third-party.
NOTE: As a precondition for evaluating grievances per the above definitions, Mighty Earth requires companies to publish their grievance logs on their websites, which must be accessible without requiring a password or login / personal credentials.
NOT FILED: Trader or biofuel company has not filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case; trader or biofuel company may or may not be engaging with supplier on the case.
FILED: Trader or biofuel company has filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case and is either investigating the case and/or engaging with the supplier.
DISPUTED: Trader or biofuel company has either listed the case as an ‘ineligible’ grievance or filed a publicly accessible grievance on the case but is disputing the case and is not taking action to resolve it – such cases include instances where it is claimed that the identified land clearing is outside the concession boundary or had been conducted by a third-party, yet no credible evidence has been provided to support this claim.
