Jessye Waxman

Jessye is a Mighty Earth organizer in Des Moines, IA working to convince Tyson Foods to clean up its meat by building public support in an area where Tyson has numerous facilities. She graduated in 2014 with a BA in Environmental Science and Policy, and received a certificate in Environmental Communications in 2017, both from Duke University.  While still in high school, she received the EPA’s Environmental Quality Award for her work on environmental education across school districts in Nassau County and for crafting a recycling program for the Town of North Hempstead’s secondary schools. At Duke, she served as the co-president of the Environmental Alliance and organizer for a day-long forum that brought together expert presenters on pressing environmental challenges. Since graduating, she has been a research associate for the Environmental Law Institute. Jessye is a member of Green Corps class of 2018.
