As chief strategy officer, Heidi Overbeck leads the programs and communications teams at the Gill Foundation in setting and executing against foundation priorities and identifying breakthrough investment opportunities to secure full equality for LGBT Americans. Heidi joined the foundation in 2018 as the vice president of communications and moved into the role of chief strategy officer in January 2020.

Previously, Heidi was a vice president at BerlinRosen, one of the nation’s leading social impact and issue advocacy PR firms, where she served as a senior communications strategist to movement leaders on LGBT rights, women’s rights, immigrant rights, and public health. Her prior experience includes leading national communications campaigns at Fenton, directing voter outreach for U.S. Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, serving as a legislative aide in Maine’s state legislature, and running the preservation program at Environment Maine.

Heidi serves on the board of the Movement Advancement Project and previously served on the boards of the Women’s Information Network of New York City, Emerge New Jersey, and Emerge Maine. She was also selected to be a creative writing mentor with Girls Write Now, a New York City nonprofit supporting underserved high school girls in finding their voices and sharing their stories through creative writing.

Heidi graduated magna cum laude from Colorado College, where she earned a degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing. Born and raised in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, Heidi now lives in Denver with her family.
