Carole Mitchell is Mighty Earth’s Senior Director of Communications with responsibility to shape and deliver Mighty’s storytelling across all platforms and in the media, ensuring Mighty is at the heart of the conversation to transform industry and government policy for climate and nature.

Prior to joining Mighty Earth, Carole was the Head of Communications at a coalition of 60 civil society groups, working for food system change, including a reduction in the production and consumption of animal protein and a transition to more plant proteins.

Carole was the wildlife and forest lead in the WWF-UK media team, pitching and landing stories on some of the world’s most endangered species. Carole led on a media trip to the Colombian Amazon, securing the lead item on leading UK TV channel, ITN’s News at Ten – a first for an environmental story.

Before moving into the environmental NGO sector, Carole was a journalist for many years, most notably at BBC network news where she spent more than a decade as a TV and radio correspondent, working across all the main BBC outlets, including the flagship Six and Ten news programmes. As well as crafting reports and doing live reporting on breaking news, Carole interviewed politicians, presidents, and pop stars, including the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.

Carole has a BA (Hons) in English and a NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.
