Joy Wahba

Summer Fellow

Joy is a 2020 summer fellow supporting Mighty Earth’s cocoa campaign. Her responsibilities include researching global commitments toward sustainable and ethical cocoa, and writing blogs, grievances, statements, and other campaign materials.

Joy is passionate about social justice, Indigenous rights, and the environment. Currently completing her Juris Doctorate, Joy previously worked as a research assistant in the areas of international environmental law, human rights law, and good governance.

After studying International Development at the University of Toronto, she has supported several advocacy campaigns globally. She worked with Indigenous groups in Cambodia assisting their projects to defend Indigenous land rights and to empower women and youth. In Malawi, she ran a campaign to improve public spending on rural water services and strengthened the policy and advocacy arms of civil society networks in the agriculture and water and sanitation sectors.
